Louis XIII

The reign of Louis XIII (1610-1643) was a period of evolution from the classical and austere styles of the late Renaissance, to a more extravagant naturalistic ornamentation that can be traced to Italian frames of earlier origin. Typical frames of this period, the beginnings of Baroque, rely on floral and leaf motifs.
